More than any year in recent memory, it seemed like 2017 featured a release nearly every week (sometimes several times in a week!) that demanded a listen. A heap of my favourite artists, and those of many others, put out records in 2017: from the returning LCD Soundsystem to depresso-faves The National, King Kendrick to even U2 (spoilers: it’s good, not great, and won’t feature here).
So in a year stacked with stuff to listen to, what was the takeaway? Probably that trying to listen to everything isn’t sustainable (or even enjoyable). It felt hard to keep up at times, and still, I felt compelled to write thousands of words about all the great stuff. And there was plenty of it, so if you do read some of this, let me know your thoughts!
